How We
Started |
|
Harvard Community Partners,
Inc. (HCPI) was founded in 1997 by local citizens who were
concerned about the downtown district in Harvard, IL.
|
|
Our Main Street Designation |
|
HCPI received its Illinois
Main Street designation from the Illinois Lt. Governor's office
in 1999. Harvard Main Street is now one of over 60
Illinois Main Street (IMS) communities. As an Illinois
Main Street community, we receive training, design consulting
services, an information database, and other technical
assistance. While we do not pay membership fees to IMS, we
also receive no funding from IMS. All funding comes from
the local area.

Four-Point Approach |
|
Harvard Main Street follows
a four-point approach based on a model developed by the National
Historic Trust. The four points include
design,
promotion,
organization, and
economic restructuring. Each of these
points has its own committee.
